Radioactive Dating

Radioactive dating is a teechnique to find out how old an object is using a carbon -14 atom. It was invented by scientist Willard Libby in the 1940s. Because the amount of carbon-14 has remained roughly constant through time on the earth it is possible to calculate the age of an object by finding the proportion of carbon-14 to carbon-12.

Nuclear Chemistry

10d1) Differentitiate between alpha, beta, and gamma radiation.
Alpha Radiation is radiation that is  made up of alpha particles; is deflected toward a negatively charged plate when radiation from a radioactive source is directed between two electrically sharged plates
Beta Radiation is radiation that is made up of beta particles; is deflected toward a positively charged plate when radiation from a radioactive source is directed between two electrically charged plates.
Gamma Radiation is radiation that has no electrial charge and no mass, is not deflected by electric or magnetic fields, usually accompines alpha and beta radiation, and accounts for most of the energy lost during radioactive decay.

10d2) Differentiate between fission and fusion.
Nuclear fission is the process of splitting atoms
Nuclear fusion is the process of  forcing atoms together.

10d5) Describe nuclear energy and its practical applictaion as an alternative energy source and its potential problems.
Nuclear energy is the energy from nuclear fission or fusion. It can be used to power household appliances. Its wates are harmful to the environment and humans also it  takes long time to decay or be harmless.

"Representing Data"

The advantages of a pie graph is that it is visually appealing, which is important for presentation, and it shows the percent total for each category. The disadvantages of a pie graph is that it doesn't have exact numerical data, it is hard to compare to data sets, the total is unknown unless specified, it is only good for 3 to 7 categories and you can only use it with discrete data.

The disadvantages of a bar graph are that the graph categories can be reordered to emphasize certain effects , and that you can only use it with discrete data. The advantages of a bar graph are : it is visually strong, which is good for presentation, and you can easily compare two or three data sets.

The advantages of a line graph are: you can compare multiple continuous data sets easily, and the interim data can be inferred from the graph line. The disadvantages of a line graph are: you can only use it with continuous data.

"Why Chemistry Is the Most Important Science"

Chemistry is the most important science because, it is the science that deals with the composition and properties of substances and many original forms of matter. It is also very important because, almost everything in the world  is made out of chemicals. Chemistry is also the central science, central to the understanding of other sciences and technologies. Knowing and understanding Chemistry will help us in life and in our future and life itself is based on Chemistry.
